biographybiography of gilbert ott III
To me, there is nothing more boring or awkward than reading a “third person” biography about an individual who clearly typed it up themselves, so I hope you don’t mind missing out on any anecdotes about the first time I touched a drum set at age two or how the melodies I help create are so “infectious” and remarkable. On that note, this is my biography. I think it is fair to say my career started the way every other musician’s career started. First by loving music more than nearly anything, and secondly, by playing in numerous god awful bands. The bands got better as I got older, and in opening my ears to any and all music I could get my hands on, I began to form serious opinions on the music we made and on what we could do to make it better.
The skill set acquired in my playing days opened up producing as a natural progression. As a friend to musicians in bands both big and small, I couldn’t help but keep my mouth shut about their work and surprisingly, a lot of them seemed to enjoy my advice and ideas and use it in the studio and on stage. It was from their enthusiasm that I took a passion into the technology and methods of recording, and since then I have devoted my life to creating and helping to create the best music that can possibly be made both sonically and on paper.Over the past few years, my production partner and songwriter Alexander Howard and I have begun to collaborate on various projects that range from film scores, to remixes, and to full length albums, with fantastic results. While the economy has gone down the drain, the past year of 2008 has been great to us and I’ve been happy to watch music that I helped create make its way to CNN, Good Morning America, as well as households around the world and it is an unbelievable feeling that I hope one that you too will experience in the near future.
Many producers, as some of you may or may not know, do not attend more than 60 percent of their recording sessions, they book multiple bands at once and pop in from time to time to check on their progress. Alex and I only take on projects that we think we can make a true difference and we attend every single session from pre production to mixing. We have a wide array of instruments and can be hired, if need be to play as session musicians on your tracks. As much as we would love to work with all of you, there is something that needs to be said first. If you’re not willing to put in the hours and days it requires to nail a performance and really work on the structure, melodies, and lyrics of your songs, then it is not worth your money or your time to work with us. On the other hand, if this is what you live for, and you are willing to work hard for, please email us and let’s get together and make something great.
